Mutual Aid Music & Swiss musicians

Konnekt is inviting trumpeter Nate Wooley's Mutual Aid Music collective to perform in an extended format with musicians from the Swiss scene.

Through this project, which could be described as ‘ethico-musical’, Wooley encourages the members of the collective to take stock of their ‘gifts’ and to ask themselves at every moment how the use of this gift will affect the community of which they are currently members. Wooley's compositional system is based on constraints designed to take musicians out of their comfort zone, and leave them with very pure decision-making choices. By combining formal material with an ‘ethic’ of playing, Wooley asks the musicians to question what they bring to the ensemble as human beings first and musicians second. In collaboration with the AMR, Konnekt has taken the initiative of giving the local scene the benefit of this brilliant and unifying project, which turns the relationship to improvised performance on its head, by offering a mixed occurrence of Mutual Aid Music, inviting a large number of Swiss improvisers to perform alongside part of the original New York line-up.

Keiji Haino - Konnekt Japan Connection

Cave12 and Konnekt join forces for a cosmic Wednesday night featuring Tokyo's genius of pure sonic incandescence, Keiji Haino. A true living legend, Keiji Haino evolves in the farthest reaches of exploratory music. At 73, the artist is both a pioneer and an indisputable paragon of the international quest for sound, with a discography as sprawling as it is unfathomable. A Grand Master par excellence, he represents for many the Grail of musical vibration at its purest and most transcendent. By making each millisecond of sound even more essential than the last, Keiji Haino is capable of transporting us to any musical sphere/direction possible: blues, medieval music, popular songs from all over the world, thunderous psychedelia, you name it!

This project is a continuation of Konnekt's regular exchanges between Geneva and Japan, notably with the invitation of radical piano legend Yosuke Yamashita, on 10 May 2025 at SupernaturalDeluxe (Chiba, JP)!
